Ian Harwood is the Managing Director of PDF Engineering

Ian is a Building Services Engineer (Mechanical Services) with over 23 years of experience. Ian previously worked for NDY where he was the leader of the Mechanical Engineering team for 10 years, whilst working on some key projects in Perth, Sydney and London. Ian is an experienced mechanical engineer having worked on a broad variety of projects, including; Health, Labs, Commercial Offices, Community Centres, Data Centres, Retail, Education, Residential, Hotels and Industrial Buildings. Ian has had a number of roles on the projects he has been involved with, including Mechanical Engineer, Peer Reviewer, Expert Witness, Independent Verifier, Commissioning, Clients Representative and Building Services Manager (on behalf of a builder).

Ian began his career in Perth. After 5 years in Perth, Ian relocated to London for 7 years where he worked on some landmark projects in/around London, Manchester and throughout Europe, before returning to Perth. Ian has also recently worked on significant projects in Sydney (whilst based in Perth).  Ian is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating. Fellow is a title bestowed on someone by his peers, who has a recognised longevity and seniority in the HVAC industry.

James is a Director of PDF Engineering having over 23 years of experience in the Building Services and Mechanical Engineering field. James is originally from London and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Greenwich.

Having emigrated to Perth in 2000, James has in that time worked for several respected Engineering firms such as BCA Consultants, Calibre Projects and NDY until leaving to establish PDF Engineering.

In addition to a broad range of Building Services skills, James has significant experience in various specialist mechanical fields including critical facilities, mining non-process infrastructure and industrial piping design.

James has worked in a senior role on major resources infrastructure projects including Rio Tinto’s Brockman 4, Amrun, West Angelas Deposit B, Cape Lambert and Western Turner Syncline 1. Other resources projects include the Roy Hill and Karrara Magnetite mines in WA and Natural Fuels Biodiesel Processing Facility in the Northern Territory.

Mission Critical Clients include the NBN, UWA, Quadrant Energy, Apple, IBM, Equinix and Fujitsu as well as completion of the final commissioning testing of the systems at the Perth Children’s Hospital. James is also an Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer.
